Blogger’s Quilt Festival – Spring 2011

Ah….I love the Blogger’s Quilt Festival @ Amy’s Creative Side. I get to look at, literally, hundreds of beautiful quilts in my pajamas. This time around, I have two quilts to share.

This first one I call Lunar Eclipse. I love these type of quilts made from blocks of color with white sashing in between. They really focus on the color and pattern of the fabrics, but for me, they are a hassle to make. Somehow, my sashings don’t always look even, but I’m going to admit I did a good job on this one.

This shot was taken by my front window. Yes, my walls really are that color. It’s technically Imperial Yellow, although somedays it looks like the outside of a school bus.

The second quilt is a grey and white houndstooth, bound in aqua with a polka-dot backing. I’ve previously blogged about it, but I LOVE this pattern from V & Co. so much that I wanted to share it again.
This is the first quilt I’ve ever used solids on. Seriously. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever even used a solid fabric in anything else I’ve done (besides a little white here and there). I’m really of the one-can-never-have-too-many-prints mindset. But now, I’m looking at solids in a whole new light and can’t wait to make another of these quilts to keep for myself 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my quilts. Grab yourself snack, get comfortable and explore the Blogger’s Quilt Festival. You’ll be amazed at what people can do with a bit of fabric!

  1. These two are so, so pretty to me!! I love the yellow with the black and grey and then the hounds tooth pattern block is very nice. I don't think I have seen that pattern yet-so thanks for bringing it to my attention:) The blue binding works so well!

  2. I love Kona solids, so you know I'm a sucker for this quit! Polka dots should not be so hard to come by, either. They are classic. This is awesome especially the pop of turquoise for the binding! LOVE It!

  3. Cute quilts! I love the white sashing–and I recognize that eclipse fabric…I used the gray print in one of my quilts…it is fun to see more of the line actually made into a quilt!

  4. Hi Leslie. Both quilts are simply stunning. The fabrics work so well in the first quilt in such a simple layout. And the solids in the second quilt are perfect, too. I love the aqua in the binding.

  5. Funny about yellow walls…mine some days look like mustard but love them anyway! Love both of your quilts. I'm a pattern lover also, but am thinking might have to try a solid one of these days. Very nicely done all around! Thanks for sharing and have a great day
