Plaid Houndstooth Quilt

I have a love/hate relationship with this quilt. It’s a back-breaking process to trim up those pieced squares, but you just can’t beat the impact of the finished quilt. (Size: approximately 40″ x 55″)

I loved my first houndstooth quilt and seriously considered keeping it, but I couldn’t get the idea of making a plaid within the houndstooth out of my mind.

The color combinations for this quilt (pattern by V & Co.) are endless.

So, here it! Finally finished. And you know, it’s a little like childbirth. After you see the end result, you forget about the pain and are willing to go through it all again.

  1. Hi! I saw you displaying this quilt at the June 8 show, via a photo posted on Quiltworks. It's fantastic. I've done a small houndstooth version in the 'original' two-color theme, but this 'plaid' blows me away! I can't wait to tackle one like this! Thanks!

  2. I love this pattern and have a black & tan one in the works. I've been trolling around to decide how to quilt it and I see that you (like many others) have chosen a meander. I'm leaning toward that as well. I know what you mean about the love/hate with these blocks. When I decided to try paper piecing the diagonal blocks it was much more enjoyable to sew and there was no fighting the bias cut.
