A Sweet Pinwheel Quilt and Summer Ramblings

Don’t let this picture fool you. It’s stinking hot in Oklahoma. And I really shouldn’t complain. It came much earlier last year…and stayed.
Without going into my entire medical history ( I have Lupus Nephritis), let’s just say that I can’t deal with the heat. Or the humidity. Or the sun. Summer comes and I am virtually a shut-in.  But that’s really okay, because I actually enjoy being home and doing my own thing. When I tell people I’m anti-social, they laugh and say, “But your so fun…or nice…” I didn’t say I wasn’t fun or nice, I’d just rather be home 🙂
Luckily, I have a few more quilt projects lined up and I’m already looking at Christmas music for our annual Christmas Cantata at church. I’m accompanying four performances this year, so I certainly have plenty to do. And if that wasn’t enough, the cable guy is coming tomorrow and we’re getting the package that let’s you DVR 16 shows at once! I don’t think I even watch 16 different shows?
This little quilt is for my hair-stylist, Brandi, who I’ve been seeing for years. She’d mentioned that she was doing the baby’s room in lavender and tan, maybe some spring green in there too. I saw the above leaf and bird fabric on a random clearance table. Of course, nothing else in the store went with it, so I had to collect my fabrics from a variety of sources and local quilt shoppes. I like to use “shoppes” for some reason when referring to quilt stores. Sounds quaint.
I never really know how long it takes to make a quilt, so I kept a careful record this time around. This pattern takes a while to cut out, but it all went together beautifully…in 14.5 hours.
